Lady Bugs and Little Miracles

Welcome to my blog! I started this because my family lives far away from my husband and I and there are simply not enough minutes in the day to constantly call and update o here I am!

For those of you who might just be coming across this blog here's a introduction for you: My name is Kelly and I'm and emergency room nurse. My husband's name is Rob and he's a firefighter. We've been married for 4 years and are currently first time expecting parents. I'm pregnant with triplets! Yep, you read that right TRIPLETS!

We started trying to get conceive on our 2nd wedding anniversary and three months later we found out we were expecting! Sadly at 7 weeks pregnant, I started cramping and bleeding heavily and it turns out I had miscarried that baby. We waited six months like advised and started trying to conceive again.

I got pregnant the first month and again at 11 weeks I miscarried. We decided maybe it was just not our time to try and have a baby and stop trying to conceive but didn't use any birth control. Funny enough six month later guess what was late! Aunt Flo! That's who! I took a test and it came up positive I booked an appointment with my doctor and he wanted to do an ultrasound at 5 weeks to make sure everything was looking good because of my previous miscarriages.

At my ultrasound I heard the technician say "oh wow" my immediate thought was "I can't handle another miscarriage" she went and got my doctor and he took a look and said "Well Kelly, I see two sacs" I really have no idea what I said but I started crying and mumbling something probably incoherent. I got home and really didn't say anything to Rob for hours. Finally, he asked me what the hell went on. I gave him a pic of the ultrasound and it said "TWINS!" on it. He got kind of faint and didn't believe me at first. After much reassuring, he finally clued in and wanted to come with me to the specialist appointment. At 8 weeks I went to see a perinatologist (an OB who specializes in high risk pregnancies). He put the wand on my belly, looked at my chart and said "umm your OB said your having twins right?" I said "yes, why?" he said "I see three heart beats. There are three babies. You're having triplets!" I looked at Rob, looked at the screen, looked at the doctor and started bawling my eyes out.

I really haven't stopped crying since. It's not that I don't love all my babies already but THREE babies at one time is truly overwhelming. If you've never been expecting multiples you have no idea. I'm thankful beyond belief that all three babies are healthy and this has been a picture perfect triplet pregnancy so far but I wanted ONE healthy baby I don't have a clue on how we're going to raise three at once.
